Welcome to the website of Darren Gass, the 23 year old rally star from Markethill, Co. Armagh, N. Ireland. In 2012 Darren will be competing in the Irish Tarmac Championship and also a few other events. Keep in touch with Darren's latest news on this website!

Darren’s first major breakthrough in the world of rallying came in 2007 when as a teenager he won the British Junior Rally Championship at his first attempt. This success brought him to the attention of the Pirelli Star Driver judging panel. The prize provided by the Italian tyre giant was a fully funded drive in the 2008 British Rally Championship in a Group N Mitsubishi Evo 9. Along with 7 other promising rally drivers Darren undertook a rigorous assessment that included driving ability, physical fitness, media skills and knowledge of motorsport. At the end of the 2 day test Darren was selected the winner.

2008 proved to be a difficult season for Darren in the ADR prepared Pirelli Star Driver Mitsubishi. Despite finishing in 5th place on the Isle Of Man International rally non finishes in 3 other British Rally Championship round and being unable to start Rally GB tested the young driver’s resolve.

Darren managed to put together a limited programme in a hired Subaru Group N car for the 2009 season but his run of bad luck continued and 5th place on the Circuit Of Ireland proved to be his best result.

For 2010 Darren was determined to prove that he had the skills and talent to become a successful rally driver. On board a hired Subaru victories on the Mourne and Lurgan Park rallies and 5th overall on the Cork 20 rally capped a successful season for the young Armagh driver.

Darren’s success continued during the 2011 season with wins in Kerry, the ALMC Rally, an impressive defence of his Lurgan Park title over 11 times winner Kenny McKinstry and 3rd overall on the Ulster Rally.
